Guide for Kids' Leaders

If you’re thinking of setting up a group, or already run one– well done! I am convinced that when church is a safe place where children are known, loved and valued it is invaluable for all, but especially for those with special needs. The resources have been tried and tested over a number of years for a variety of children and young people and I invariably do updates and tweaks as I continue to use them!
The information on this page should help you navigate your way round the website but if you’d like some extra help please contact me via the ‘Hi’ link and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Getting Started
If you are at the stage of looking into setting up a separate Sunday School group in your church for children and young people with special needs, please look at the ‘Getting Started’ info sheet, which will give you help and advice with initial steps.

Running a session
The info here gives you practical advice on the logistics, layout and timings of your sessions.

The Resources
The resources are based on a 3-year plan which has been developed since 2013 and which is frequently updated. The plan follows through the Old Testament and the life of Jesus in a systematic way, roughly alternating monthly with OT/NT. Finding resources is straightforward. The search button will respond to keywords, while the tabs take you to New Testament, Old Testament, Extra Topics or Aslan at Home. You can also sort into A-Z. When none are selected, the default is the 3-year plan (date order) followed by Aslan at Home.

Each topic has a number of different sessions and in each session there are 4 levels of activities, plus a lesson plan and PowerPoint. There is also an option to download a zip file of all content.
